Vanax have been awarded a contract by Glasgow NHS for Westmarc (West of Scotland Mobility and Rehabilitation Centre), the wheelchair and specialist seating service, whose technicians visit disabled people throughout the West of Scotland supplying, maintaining and repairing wheelchairs and other specialist seating products for NHS patients.

A total of sixteen vehicles comprising of Volkswagen LT MWB and Vauxhall Vivaro LWB HR vans have been converted to mobile workshop vehicles to improve the service currently offered to patients. The conversions include additional cargo area lighting, hand washing facilities, modular racking and Euro ramps.

After a thorough consultation process and the completion of four prototype vehicles it was decided to fit Sortimo crash tested modular racking which includes shelving and drawer space, workbench and vice and storage bins to aid in the maintenance of the wheelchairs.

Hand washing facilities have been supplied which offer hot and cold running water at the flick of a switch.

The Euro PCR swivel ramp was chosen in an expanded metal finish to ensure that good grip remains on the ramp surface even in wet conditions. The swivel option was added to give maximum rear loading space flexibility.
