Vanax have delivered the
delivered a second retinal screening conversion for Glasgow and Clyde NHS.
Following a trial period with the first screening vehicle converted in 2006, Vanax, in partnership with staff from the NHS retinal Screening Department, fine tuned the original specification to make it even more patient friendly than the previous conversion. Similar to the original specification which was found to work well throughout the trial period, the new conversion included the installation of g of a passenger tail lift, 240v air conditioning system, 240v outlets for running computer equipment, a retinal screening cameras, refrigeration facilities and up rated heating for all vehicle compartments. The vehicle was fully insulated to guarantee an ambient temperature for both patients and staff and was split into two sections - a comfortable reception area and an examination room for retinal screenings. Additional storage was fitted with wall units in both the reception and examination areas, all of which were keyed alike for user friendliness and additional security. An additional bonded window was fitted to the nearside side loading door to improve patient vision and comfort. The reception area was redesign to include more seating for patient's and their helpers. In order to minimise the risk of infection the vehicle was finished in a non-slip, heavy duty, MRSA resistant floor covering and light grey polyester coated panels. A panic alarm was also fitted for NHS staff safety. When activated, the vehicle alarm sounded, together with a low profile blue strobe light fitted to the roof of the vehicle. The existing retinal screening camera and table supplied by the NHS had to be adapted for mobile use with the table being fitted with up rated wheels and the camera unit secured to an extended table top to allow for transportation between sites. "We were delighted to be given the opportunity to continue the good working relationship we have built up over the last three years with the staff from the retinal screening department." said Managing Director, Johnny Dunne. "We were tasked with improving on the initial specification, ensuring that the reliability and hard wearing design which was prevalent throughout the first conversion in 2006 continued but with improvements to the overall look and comfort levels for both staff and patients alike. We hope that through great care and attention to detail we have achieved our aim."
